Day #14 #SOL17
She got the tag “little” grandma when Rachel, one of her great grandchildren and my niece, was telling a story about grandma. Rachel was 4 years old at the time.
“Which grandma are you talking about?” I ask.
“Little Grandma,” she replied.
We all laughed because “little grandma”, my grandma, was indeed only 5’1″ tall. We also had a “big” grandma. My mother was 5’8″ tall. Henceforth, the grandparents became known as “big grandma” and “little grandma.”
Rachel is 32 years old now and Little Grandma? Well, Little Grandma turned 102 years old this year. Little Grandma with the big heart.
Aww, how sweet. I love this memory of little Grandma.

What a great story about how someone got their name. I love hearing stories about nicknames, particularly ones for grandparents; they are always cute and creative.

I just love it when kids see something in such simple terms.

We had a ‘little grandma’ too! And she had an amazing long and healthy life as well! Thanks for the memory.
